The Color Revival Powder Room

The color revival powder room features a richly veined porcelain slab with integrated lighting and floating mirror, aspen green pedestal sink with titanium and black nickel hardware, and marble herringbone floor.Anchored by a dramatic porcelain feature wall, this elegant green powder room proves that small spaces are the perfect place for big design moments. “The idea for this powder room started with this stunning porcelain slab and built from there,” Normandy Designer Ashley Noethe says. “Green is having a revivalist moment, so I said if we’re going green, let’s go for it throughout the space.”

The porcelain, inspired by the veining and movement of real quartzite, immediately sets the tone. Its oversized scale and natural pattern create a sophisticated setting, with integrated lighting at the edge subtly illuminating the surface. The floating mirror — an approach used to minimize cutting into the delicate porcelain — keeps the material uninterrupted, structurally sound, and the star of the room

The confident use of color continues with an aspen green pedestal sink, a traditional silhouette combined with an unexpected hue. “The shape of the sink is fairly classic, but we wanted to mix styles and go bolder with color,” Ashley says. “The green toilet complements the sink while reinforcing the playful, revivalist spirit that’s currently reemerging in home design.”

Hardware finishes include titanium, which is a deep, moody tone that’s darker than chrome but softer than black, and black nickel which both add subtle contrast without distraction.

Underfoot, a marble herringbone floor provides a crisp counterpoint to the saturated green. “I like to say that the floor design points you towards the beautiful wall element,” Ashley says. The directional pattern of the tile indeed draws the eye toward the porcelain feature wall, reinforcing it as the visual anchor while breaking up the expanses of green with light and movement.

“For this powder room, we wanted to do something bold and fun but with a subtle sophistication. The finished product makes a strong impression but still has a soft beauty,” Ashley says. “When you commit fully to a standout material, it becomes the guiding light for the entire design.”

The Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

Modern farmhouse kitchen includes custom stainless steel hood with polished nickel strapping. This modern farmhouse kitchen is a refined interpretation of the popular style, balancing familiar farmhouse elements with tailored details that ensure it will feel current for years to come.

“People are embracing modern farmhouse because they want a clean, modern space that still feels warm and homey,” Normandy Designer Laura Barber says. “Details like the stone wall and rustic beams nod to the style, but this design can fit into many types of homes without feeling too themed.”

Rather than the bronze finishes often associated with modern farmhouse kitchens, this space boasts a custom stainless-steel hood with polished nickel strapping, mixing matte and polished finishes for depth. The refrigerator and upper hutch cabinets feature polished nickel mesh panels, adding subtle texture and shine.Modern farmhouse kitchen island features a baking center with a pull-out bread drawer, warming drawer and mixer lift. Textured German antique glass, rift cut white oak cabinet interiors and integrated lighting add contrast and create a warm display area in the adjacent cabinets, accented by wood grain porcelain floor tile in a herringbone pattern.

The three-tone cabinetry palette includes rift cut white oak paired with white and soft gray painted finishes, creating gentle contrast. “The Zellige tile on the range wall creates a monochromatic look but still has some grays and beige that adds subtle interest, providing a nice backdrop for the polished nickel pot filler,” Laura says. Even the slim backsplash ledge was intentional. “The ledge adds dimension and is also a convenient spot for a phone or recipe while cooking.”

Natural stone countertops bring in movement with bronze veining, balanced by black accents on the pendant lights above.Modern farmhouse kitchen includes rift cut white oak cabinets in natural, white and gray painted finishes, custom hutch with decorative feet and bi-fold pocket doors, monochromatic backsplash tile, island with baking center, natural stone countertops, polished nickel pot filler, stainless steel range hood, black pendant lights and porcelain floor tile in a herringbone pattern. “Quartzite brings both organic beauty and durability for busy kitchen,” Laura adds. “And mixing hardware styles and finishes keeps a room from feeling flat.”

The island was designed for a tighter footprint while maximizing function. It features a baking center with a pull-out bread drawer, warming drawer and mixer lift. “I wanted a compelling visual on the front of the island,” Laura says about the faux drawer façade. “The cabinets open to reveal 4-inch shallow storage shelves that can store anything from a bottle of olive oil to tea.”

A custom hutch with decorative feet and bi-fold pocket doors offers flexibility for daily use or entertaining. “You can keep it open as a hosting hub or closed when you want a cleaner look,” Laura says. “It’s effectively an upscale appliance garage that doubles as a coffee or wine bar.”
