Normandy’s Showroom Accepting Home Grown Donations

As we put the finishing touches on our backyard vegetable gardens, we encourage you to consider planting an extra row to help fight hunger in our own communities. Your surplus of fruits and vegetables would be so welcome on the dinner tables of our neighbors in need, and to make it as easy as we can for you to donate, our Hinsdale Showroom will be accepting donations of homegrown produce that we will be providing to the Westmont Food Pantry.  The owners of Normandy Builders and their families have long been involved in the local food pantry and by creating a drop-off location at our showroom, even more of our neighbors can help in the fight against hunger.

Our showroom is located in Hinsdale at 440 East Ogden Avenue just across County Line Road from Whole Foods.  We are accepting perishable and non-perishable items, and our showroom is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and Saturday from 9 to 4.

For those of us who love our gardens, but frequently find ourselves with a bounty we and our families can’t possibly consume, this is a great way to know that the fruits of our labor will be going to someone who will welcome and enjoy the fresh vegetables of the season.

Remodeling Creates an Opportunity for Charity

Normandy Builders has been remodeling Chicago area homes for over 30 years, and many of these remodeling projects include a kitchen renovation. In some cases, the cabinetry being removed is nearly new or in such great shape that the homeowners are looking for an alternative to simply throwing these items in the trash.

In these cases, Normandy coordinates with the Elgin ReStore, a Habitat for Humanity affiliate, to arrange for the donation of cabinets, countertops, fixtures, appliances, and more. The Normandy deconstruction crew carefully uninstalls these items and arranges for the items to be picked up.

This partnership between Normandy Builders and Habitat for Humanity has been very well received by our clients.  Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryant shares details about one of her recent clients who chose to donate their cabinets and appliances to Habitat for Humanity.
