Top Bathroom Remodeling Trends for 2023

Wall treatments are a top 2023 bathroom remodeling trend

Your primary bathroom is a space for rest and relaxation, your powder room is for showing off your style, and your hall bath is for overnight guests or little ones. While each of these spaces has a unique and specific function in your home, they are all finding renewed attention this year on ways to express your personality, making them a room thatโ€™s fun and functional all at once.

This year, color, texture, shapes, and fixtures are among the top bathroom trends the Normandy Designers are excited about. Hereโ€™s what you can expect to see among the 2023 bathroom trends:

Wall treatments

Wallpaper came roaring back to popularity in recent years and is still going strong; but looking forward, it will be the more permanent, understated wall treatments that take center stage. Wainscoting, accent tile, shiplap and more are finding their way to hall baths, primary bathrooms, and powder rooms alike. These wall upgrades take the modest space allotted to the bathroom and give it major style points.

Painted vanities are one of the top 2023 bathroom remodeling trends

Colorful cabinetry

Painted vanities are having a moment. Rich, dramatic shades can create a statement piece in the bathroom that looks upscale and casual at the same time. The size and substance of the vanity give the color a notable presence and creates an anchor point for other uses of that hue in your bathroom, inviting playful options for your floors or shower tile.

Peeks of color

2023 will see the love of color show up in unexpected places, like your shower niche. These pops of color placed carefully throughout your bathroom add personality without overwhelming the space. Shower niches can highlight the color of your painted vanity or balance the hues of your wall treatments or tiled flooring, creating a cohesive look.

Geometric shapes in tile

Squares and rectangles gained sharper corners, mitered edges, and inlay designs. Triangles, hexagons, and many more geometric shapes have become a go-to way to add pattern to your bathroom without being too visually demanding.

Dark hardware

Dark hardware is making headway in homes today. Matte black faucets and hardware feel fresh and innovative, and the timeless quality of black hints that this look may be here to stay. Itโ€™s an updated approach to the traditional metals weโ€™re accustomed to seeing in bathrooms, plus, this striking finish complements the rich hues of painted or dark stained vanities.

Smart storage

Well, ask and you shall receive.hidden tilt out hamper that looks like drawers are among top bathroom trends for 2023 Todayโ€™s bathrooms have smarter storage solutions in the usual places, and a priority for more storage overall. Vanities can have specialized pull outs for makeup, hair tools, and toiletries. Kitchen Remodeling Trends for 2023

Itโ€™s finally here. This is the year youโ€™re actually going to remodel your kitchen. Youโ€™ve got your Pin boards, your Instagram favorites and even a Houzz ideabook. Then the reality hits you: there are so many choices, so many options, itโ€™s hard to know which direction to choose for your kitchen design. Thankfully, weโ€™ve got a few experts here at Normandy who have their fingers on the pulse of whatโ€™s in, whatโ€™s out, and whatโ€™s up-and-coming.

We asked the Normandy Designers for their take on the trends and possibilities for kitchens this year. Here is their insight for what you should be considering as you prepare to remodel your kitchen in 2023:

Whites are Warming Up

The grays and cool tones that dominated for years are starting to take a step back. Weโ€™re seeing a shift to warmer color palettes, and itโ€™s showing up everywhere, including in whites. These warmer white tones pair beautifully with the earthy shades of natural wood hoods, stone countertops, and warm metals. The classic all-white kitchen becomes a bit softer and more inviting when you temper it with a touch of warmth, while keeping that timeless appeal that will make it look fresh for years.

Celebrating wood

Wood elements in todayโ€™s kitchens are rich and textured, and truer to their natural state. Incorporating wood into your kitchen is a celebration of its native coloring and graining, so you may find yourself drawn to a Hickory, Walnut or even Oak. Whether itโ€™s a subtle accent on your hood, a statement island, or the entirety of your kitchen cabinetry, woods bring a rich color, texture, and warmth to your kitchen design that canโ€™t be beat.

Color is king

Youโ€™re not relegated to whites and wood tones for your kitchen, color is making an impact in rich hues found on backsplashes and kitchen cabinets alike. Cooler colors like the blues that dominated previous years are being paired with warm woods, while rich greens and earth tones are becoming more popular for kitchen cabinetry. The invitation to bring color into your kitchen will let your personality come shining through, so our designers recommend finding a color you love and build your kitchen around that hue.

Metals still stand strong

There are the predictable places for metallic shine, like your plumbing fixtures and cabinet knobs, but unexpected metal accents on hoods, cabinet doors, and more can add a sleek touch to any space. So go ahead, choose that statement light fixture in any metallic finish you choose. When all those metals work together in your kitchen, theyโ€™re sure to bring the right amount of shine to your space.

Traditional style gains ground

Similar to music, hairstyles, and fashion, old styles are made new again, with a timely twist. For kitchens, traditional touches are weaving their way back into todayโ€™s homes, but with a fresh new approach. Todayโ€™s traditional kitchen features more simplified details, rather than over the top ornamentation. Itโ€™s perhaps most easily seen in kitchen cabinetry, as there are more options with traditional styling than just the eternally popular shaker style door. Those traditional details can be found just about everywhere, from faucets to cabinet doors, and let you decide just how much of that traditional style you want to invite into your kitchen design.

Navigating the myriad of choices you have available for your kitchen can be overwhelming. Fortunately, you can set up a meeting with one of the Normandy Designers to help you make sense of all the options. Feel free to browse our Instagram and Facebook pages to curate your favorite looks. Our designers will help you create a beautiful kitchen that best suits your style and home.
