Luxurious Master Suite Renovation

master bedroom ideas created by Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryant“The goal of this second floor bedroom and bathroom space was to create an elegant and functional master suite, with a hint of vintage glam,” says our Normandy Design Team.  “To achieve that we used rich tones throughout the space, complemented by touches of glitz.  For instance, the arched French doors to the bathroom are inset with antique glass mirrors and there’s beautiful chandeliers in the bedroom and bathroom.”

“We utilized a space right off the bedroom as a cozy sitting area next to the fireplace, it’s master bedroom with sitting room created by Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryantjust perfect for lounging before bed,” noted our team.  “There’s an arch detail between the bedroom and sitting area that’s repeated throughout the entire space, along with intricate crown molding.  One of my favorite elements is the arched, barreled ceiling over the freestanding tub that’s tiled in translucent glass; it reflects the light differently throughout the day creating a stunning focal point in the bathroom.  There’s also beautiful oak free standing bath tub in master bathroom ideas created by Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryanthardwood flooring that flows from the master bedroom to the master bathroom and on into the dressing room – adding more rich tones to the space.”

“Overall the space achieved the homeowners goals, from having designated areas for personal space to custom shelving in the closets to fully utilize them,” says our team.  “It’s the details of the space, like the arches and antique mirror insets on the doors that make the final results so breathtaking.”  The homeowner also enlisted assistance from Jill Renner Design for the finishing touches of this project.

Low Divide Kitchen Sink Benefits

Smart divide white composite sink with white quartz countertops, rainforest blue-green cabinetsLow divide kitchen sinks, often referred to as “Smart Divide” sinks by Kohler, strike a balance between single-basin and double-basin designs, essentially giving homeowners the best of both worlds in kitchen sinks.

“The low divide is nice because it gives you the flexibility of divided spaces, but ample room for washing larger items like pots, pans, baking sheets,” Normandy Designer Jackie Jensen says. “They also offer the convenience of being able to fill up one side of the sink when washing dishes but having the flexibility to fill the entire bowl when there are more dishes. They’re a very versatile sink design.”

The defining feature of a low divide sink is its shorter center partition, which allows water and space to flow more freely between the two sides when needed. apron front kitchen sink and textured white backsplashThis makes it much easier to clean oversized items, something that can be challenging with traditional divided sinks. At the same time, users can still separate tasks like rinsing and washing when desired.

Low divide sinks are commonly available in stainless steel, cast iron, and composite materials, and are typically installed as under-mount sinks for a seamless look. “Composite is a popular option for the heavy traffic that low-divide sinks tend to get,” Jackie says. “I think people gravitate towards this option when they like the look of a cast iron, but need more durability, if you regularly wash very heavy pots and pans.”

In addition to durability, composite sinks also provide more flexibility in design. “There are more colors available, so you can choose finishes that either blend subtly into the countertop or stand out as a statement feature,” Jackie says.

No matter what material you choose, low divide sinks blend with any style of kitchen and are chosen based on the personal needs and preference for a particular household, Jackie notes. Ultimately, the low divide sink offers a practical, stylish solution that offer flexibility for busy households.
