Low Divide Kitchen Sink Benefits

“The low divide is nice because it gives you the flexibility of divided spaces, but ample room for washing larger items like pots, pans, baking sheets,” Normandy Designer Jackie Jensen says. “They also offer the convenience of being able to fill up one side of the sink when washing dishes but having the flexibility to fill the entire bowl when there are more dishes. They’re a very versatile sink design.”
The defining feature of a low divide sink is its shorter center partition, which allows water and space to flow more freely between the two sides when needed.
Low divide sinks are commonly available in stainless steel, cast iron, and composite materials, and are typically installed as under-mount sinks for a seamless look. “Composite is a popular option for the heavy traffic that low-divide sinks tend to get,” Jackie says. “I think people gravitate towards this option when they like the look of a cast iron, but need more durability, if you regularly wash very heavy pots and pans.”
In addition to durability, composite sinks also provide more flexibility in design. “There are more colors available, so you can choose finishes that either blend subtly into the countertop or stand out as a statement feature,” Jackie says.
No matter what material you choose, low divide sinks blend with any style of kitchen and are chosen based on the personal needs and preference for a particular household, Jackie notes. Ultimately, the low divide sink offers a practical, stylish solution that offer flexibility for busy households.
