The Modern Mediterranean Powder Room

āThis design echoes a Mediterranean travel moment,ā Normandy Designer Ashley Noethe says. āWhen youāre there, everything is stone ā volcanic rock, mountains āaged, worn, and full of history.ā The introduction of mixed metals adds a refined industrial note, gently modernizing the space without disrupting its earthy, organic character.
At the core of the design is a floating vanity and vessel sink designed to reinforce the roomās stone-forward narrative. That sensibility shows up in the textured wallpaper, which softens the walls with subtle variation, and in the porcelain floor tile designed to mimic terracotta. Paired with a sleek wall-mounted toilet,Ā the combination keeps the room visually light while also supporting accessible design principles.
A wall-mounted faucet in a luxe steel finish adds a crisp, architectural counterpoint. āI wanted everything to feel really clean and simple,ā Ashley says. āThe lines are sleek, and the texture does all the talking.ā
An irregularly shaped mirror in blackened brass brings an unexpected softness, while burnished steel pendant lights add a stylistic and visual contrast. āThey give the bathroom a current feeling by giving it a slight industrial edge,ā Ashley says. āYou can see movement in the metal, which adds more depth to the design.ā
Organic elements further warm the space. A custom olivewood ledge, perfect for natural dĆ©cor, introduces a tone that contrasts gently with the surrounding neutrals. āThe wood element was key,ā Ashley notes. āNot only does it break up the stone feel, but it adds that Mediterranean warmth.ā
The result is a powder room that is modern in function, timeless in spirit, and rich with texture at every turn.
