We are excited to announce that Normandy Designer Laura Barber is the recipient of a 2016 Chrysalis Award for the kitchen renovation of a century old Victorian Foursquare Home in Hinsdale. This award recognizes the finest remodeling projects across the nation that fit within fifteen different categories; broken down by price ranges and project types. This Victorian inspired white kitchen by Normandy Remodeling is a national winner for its category.
This kitchen stands out for its many personalized features and unique, vintage style.
For starters, Laura enhanced the new space with an organized and functional layout. This portion of the project entailed carving out two separate, self-sufficient work zones, which allowed for multiple family members to comfortably work together at the same time within the kitchen.
Laura also customized the height of the range, adjacent countertop and breakfast bar to suite this family’s tall stature. This adjustment makes working and sitting in the kitchen much more comfortable.
Another unique feature was a dedicated space to hang coats and place shoes. Similar to a mudroom, this area is near the back door, which is the primary entrance used by family and friends.
“I am honored to receive a 2016 Chrysalis Award for this kitchen remodel,” said Laura. “As a designer, the true measure of success is to provide my clients with a beautiful and personalized space that meets their everyday needs. Receiving recognition from my peers for a great design and beautifully executed kitchen remodel is icing on the cake.”
The Chrysalis Awards, which were founded in 1993, are one of the highest honors within the remodeling industry. The competition is open to professional remodelers and designers nationwide.
“This year was one of the most competitive award series to date, with the largest number of entries we’ve seen in over eight years,” said Ken Kanline, Director of the Chrysalis Awards Program. There are four regional winners for each category, and one of those will go on to become the national award winner for that category. “Each of the four regional winners are amazing projects in their own right, so edging out the competition to capture the National Chrysalis Award is quite an achievement.”
