New Kitchen Layout Leads to Entertaining

Crowded…  Cluttered… Maze-like… These are just a few adjectives that described this Glen Ellyn kitchen. Fed up with their dysfunctional and disjointed space, the homeowners called upon Normandy Designer Ashley Noethe to give them an entertaining oasis.

“The original layout caused a lot of issues,” said Ashley. “The homeowners loved to cook and entertain, yet there was no counter space, no room for guests and the appliances were crammed in the corner.”

So, what’s a designer to do? Ashley first added a long, uninterrupted quartz island countertop. This immediately solved two problems. First, it created more counter space for food prep. Second, it added additional seating for guests. Next, she addressed that jam-packed appliance corner. A 48” Wolf range now takes the place of the double ovens and cooktop. This move freed up the corner and led to more storage space.

Design-wise, this kitchen is contemporary and sophisticated. A few details to call attention to include a Calcutta marble backsplash, floating shelves, white lacquered cabinets and solid white quartz countertops.

This kitchen not only impressed the homeowners and their guests…  It also wowed the judges from NARI (The National Association of the Remodeling Industry) who gave it a Remodeling Excellence Award.
