Cabinet Doors that Look Like Drawers

Cabinet door that looks like a drawerLet’s face it, there are some things that are best stored in drawers, and others that work best on shelves. But what happens when function gets in the way of fantastic design? Well according to Designer Jennifer Cross, AKBD, it’s time to get creative.

“Function is always paramount when it comes to designing a space,” says Jennifer. “But you don’t have to let the function completely dictate the aesthetic, especially when it comes to cabinetry.”

By joining the drawer fronts together into a single larger piece, it can open and close just like a door, but from the outside, you would never guess it isn’t a functioning drawer.

“These faux drawers are a great way to achieve symmetry in a space,” says Jennifer. “I like to use them when trying to create some repetition in the space or when we’re trying to make a piece seem more like a furniture item, rather than a grouping of cabinets.”

There are so many ways to create a one-of-a-kind look in your kitchen or primary bathroom. Talk with Jennifer about your thoughts and ideas, at a time that works for you. You can also find more tips and tricks at an upcoming webinar, or by following Normandy on Facebook and Instagram.
