For this Oak Brook primary suite remodel,  Normandy Designer Becca Ruggiero reimagined the space to update the 1979 design, which featured a bedroom considerably larger than the connecting bathroom, which had a large tub deck area and too small of a shower. Its new layout and modern glam aesthetic won this primary suite and bathroom remodel a 2026 Master Design Award!

Borrowing space from the bedroom to re-align the primary suite layout resulted in a stunning walk-in shower and freestanding tub area that glistens with ombre tile. The relocated bathtub and water closet made room for a walk-in closet and beautiful wall of rift cut white oak cabinetry, with a double vanity topped with marble. The new bedroom is now home to a built-in desk, perfect for planning the day.

This primary suite layout redesign won a bronze Master Design Award, sponsored by Qualified Remodeler magazine; founded in 1975, it was the first magazine dedicated to serving the residential remodeling market.

Nominees are judged on aesthetic appeal, construction techniques used, handling of unusual situations, attention to detail, functionality of space and overall impression of the project.
