Screen Porch Ceiling Ideas

Creating a focal point in a room creates a sense of the room’s style and purpose. What’s often overlooked, however, is the fifth wall being a contender for a focal point. Ceilings can make a statement for the style of the entire room and can add a unique dimension to any room.

When these homeowners decided to add a screen porch, they wanted the room to be fit for entertaining, while also being distinguished as its own space in the home. They already knew they wanted the ceiling to be the focal point of the room, which led us to then work on ideas that would make sense for the space. We ultimately decided to make an architectural statement with the ceiling, with a custom-engineered design.

The rest of the room dons crisp white wainscot paneling along with window trim and sills, created with low-maintenance materials at the homeowners’ request. The screens and storms of the screen porch can be removed effortlessly by turning the latch to remove, so the room is appropriate for whatever weather Chicagoland experiences. The room’s detailed design, combined with the home’s new James Hardie exterior, highly impressed local industry peers and received a Remodeling Excellence Award from NARI Chicagoland.
