Normandy Designer Helps Prepare Design School Grads
Normandy Designer Jennifer Runner has been asked to return to her alma mater, The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg, to participate in a Mock Interview event for the current Interior Design students. After the interviews Jennifer conducts with students, she will select one student to come to shadow her for a day at Normandy! “I hope to share what I do here at Normandy and how I improve the lives of my clients,” says Jennifer, “I also hope to relay how important it is to have a design degree in order to succeed in the design industry.”
As an alum, Jennifer appreciates the opportunity to help current students. “I remember being in their shoes, and think this is a great event that will really benefit the students later in their career,” says Jennifer, “I’m looking forward to talking with students and helping guide them in the right direction as they try to prepare themselves for the fast-paced and exciting design world. ”
She’ll be asking them interview questions that she herself has been asked, which will help prepare students for their interview experience when they graduate. “One thing I definitely want to impart to students that I learned in school and apply regularly to my professional life, is that the industry is always changing; you need to be constantly up to date with new products and guidelines – and you need to stay involved,” says Jennifer.
In addition to the weekly Normandy design team product and training meetings, Jennifer stays up to date on the latest trends and products by attending trade shows and remaining active in the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NBKA).
