An addition by Normandy Designer Becca Ruggiero transformed the second floor of this vintage home, earning this primary suite addition and bathroom remodel a 2025 Master Design Award — its second award!

The Master Design Awards are sponsored by Qualified Remodeler magazine. Founded in 1975, it was the first magazine dedicated to serving the residential remodeling market.

Nominees are judged on aesthetic appeal, construction techniques used, handling of unusual situations, attention to detail, functionality of space and overall impression of the project.

This La Grange, IL family loved their 1925 home, they just needed to make better use of the space. With no primary suite — just small bedrooms and bathrooms and an old-fashioned sleeping porch being used for storage — Becca was able to combine spaces and create not only a proper primary suite, but a more functional bathroom for their growing daughters.
