There are a surprising number of ordinances and zoning restrictions that may have an outsized impact on what you can, or cannot, add on to your home. One of the best ways to assess the possible addition options is through your plat of survey, which we ask people to have available at their first appointment if they’re considering an addition.
The plat of survey, along with some calculations and zoning work, will allow the designer to determine whether or not the addition you’re considering will be permitted by your village or city. Whether you already have too much lot coverage, too close to an easement, or you’re looking to build on an existing structure that isn’t technically allowed, your designer can work through calculations and zoning code to determine whether or not an addition is an option for you.
